Can I rebarrel my savage 12FV in .223 to a .260 Rem or 6mm Rem? I really want a .308 based case shooter and have this Savage .223 that I hate. It's too heavy and it's ugly as is, can't sell it for anything near what I have into it... What to do? Any good barrel recommendations?

Thanks,

Alek

1. You can change the bolt HEAD to the correct diameter, along with a new barrel. I have a Pac-Nor that is pretty good. I don't know about refitting the magazine, mine is a single shot anyhow.

2. 6mm Remington is not a .308 family cartridge. It is pretty much a 6x57 by way of the .257 Roberts. If you want a .308 length round, that is the .243.

your post makes no sense to me whatsoever.

it's heavy? so you want to change from 223 to 308?
it's ugly? so you want to change the barrel?

you can't sell it for what you have in it? so you want to put more $ into it?

and you've given us zero insight into what you want to do with it. how do you expect anyone to give you good advice without knowing what kind of shooting you want to do? you know, if you're just shooting from a bench, heavy is a good thing. and if you want a shooter, 223 match ammo is as cheap to shoot as it gets

recommendations?

Take the scope off and sell it and get what you want. Or just restock it and buy a another rifle in 308.

This is a model 10.

Since it is heavy also (bull barrel and laminated stock) it shoots like a dream. I have stopped using the bullseye on targets and just use the cross hatches for targets, It shoots 223s like a laser. If you miss the cross hatches then you must have been out drinking the night before.
