Looking to purchase a bolt-action for deer hunting and general use on some land my parents just purchased in the Texas hill country. I have never owned a bolt-action rifle (not a centerfire at least).
A friend is selling his Savage model 16FSS in .308 with a Nikon Pro-staff 3-9x40 scope, he said it has the accutrigger as well. I searched the forum here and over at the firing line and found a lot of great information on Savage rifles in general, but mainly I just see info about the model 10.

My questions:
Is the 16 the same rifle as the 10 but in stainless?
Would this rifle fulfill my needs for hunting medium-large game?
My buddy wants $450 with the scope, it looks to be in great condition, from pricing i've seen online, it appears to be a good deal. Is it?

Thanks.

From what I have been able to tell (though research):
1. The 16 is indead a SS version of the 10
2. Yes
3. Sounds like a GREAT deal.
