I scored a sweet little Savage and have a conundrum.

I have no problem with my 1907 and the 1917 presented no problem but this particular 1915 is not cooperating as her cousins do.

I remove the breechblock with the safety in "SAFE".
Pull the slide to release the tension on the safety.
Release the slide while engaging the grip safety and then depressing the trigger.
And
The slide returns forward to exactly the "in battery" position and no farther.

Of course the magazine is out as well.

Any suggestions?
Are these different from the 1907/1917 in disassembly?

Grazie, y'all!

Nevermind - got it!

I'll leave this up to fall to archives should it ever help anyone else.

All's the same, I had a burr at the end of the barrel from it apparently having been dropped.

De-burr and everything's slidey like it's supposed to be.

Yeah RC, but I'd give 'em all up and more for a .45!

I still think Savage got shafted and that upstart 1911 will just be a passing fad.

Todd.

I agree.

The 1911 fad will probably end soon.

Say in either 2.or 200 years.

Depending on who wins this election!!
