i am thinking on getting a savage .22 mag and was hoping to get some input from yall, what are some opinions. the rifle i am looking at is clip fed bolt action in stainless steel.

thanks in advance

I have a Savage 93GL, pre-AccuTrigger. I like it quite a bit and can recommend it as a very good value in a .22 Magnum rifle. I put a Nikon Prostaff 4x32mm scope on it and can group into about a half inch at 50 yards using CCI Maxi Mags.

93 FVSS with Weaver V16.

I use it for varmints up to yotes. Here in my area of CA, we have a lead ban and I'm using CCI TNT Green ammo. 30 grains at about 2050 fps. It's not as accurate as my 17hmr's, but it's done several < 2" 100 yd groups. < 1" at 50 all day long with some groups at 1/2". I'm very happy with it.

gbran, the pic is great, the rifle i am looking at is just like that in your pic, minus the bi-pod but bigger optics on scope. thanks to the lot of you, i think i am going to be the new owner friday...

While I've never shot one of these I've also never shot or even seen a Savage that has let me down. They may not always be the best looking but they always seem to be great guns for good prices. I will admit I don't have experience with all that many of them but I really like them from what little experience I do.

the savage and marlin are both superior in the 22 mag dept. otherwise, get an oldie; marlin 781, cz brno, mossberg chuckster, H/r mag rifle, or an old Kodiak. all of these are older, and will be the most accurate of all your 22 mag rifles. the 781's can still be found regularly, with beautiful wood stocks.
