Im new at this so bear with me ive got a savage 99a 308 that i have hunted with for several years a buddy of mine ask me to price it after he shot it.just not really sure if i want to sell it. My question is whats it worth and what cal. Is close to it?

I wouldn't let it go if it were mine. Savage doesn't make them anymore. But if its just a meaningless tool, sell that version for $500.

I sold my 99A .250 Savage for $750 several years ago.
Condition is everything and mine was very good-excellent.

What you've got there is the best multipurpose rifle ever made anywhere anytime. It's also long out of production. It was produced in many calibers and you happen to have the very best caliber it was ever offered in.

I wouldn't never ever ever part with it.

thanks for the input i really apprechiet it.i guess i have let my job get in the way of my favorite past time. well i guess it,s time to get the rest of my toys out and wipe the dust off of them and pull off a few rounds.thanks again!

One of the best and strongest lever guns ever made. I have a 99 in 308 and won't even think about selling it,,,,,and I have a 77 Ruger in the same caliber, more accurate and a better trigger and I'd let it go if the price were right.

99s will continue to climb. They have many features no other gun, or few other guns, have...like counters for the number of shots left, a smooth top receiver for scopes, side ejection (Marlin, too), the ability to handle 50K plus psi cartridges, and a nice "carry" factor.

I have two stocks...monte carlo for scope, standard for iron sights.

KEEP IT>

I have Savage 99 in 303 Savage that was made in 1903. My dad and then I killed a bunch of deer with that rifle. Ammo is scarce in that caliber so I bought a 99 in 308 a few years ago. It has a detachable mag. I believe that is the 99C model. I will never get rid of it.
