Hello everyone, I picked up an old Savage handgun today, never seen one before and need a little help identifying it. It's a .32 and on top of the slide says " Savage Arms Corp., Utica NY U.S.A. cal.32"
Next line says "Patented November 21,1905 - 7.65. M-M"

So, I'm looking at pics of 1905's and 1907's but they look different that what I've got. The serations on my slide are fine and many, while most of the 1907's I've seen online have 10 serations and look deeper than mine.
Also, mine has a hammer that hangs out the back of the slide, reminds me of the hammer on a revolver, while the 1907's I've seen online have a round hammer, not the curved one I have.
Last identifier I noticed is...mine has a savage symbol/indian head and says "Savage Quality" at the top of the grip while the others I've seen have a similar symbol at the middle of the grip.

The gun is in decent condition, no scratches, no gouges, no pitting. Only problem is there's also no blueing. Finish is almost completely gone.

So, what is it? And what's it worth?

Sounds like a 1917. They are interesting little guns and lots of fun to shoot.

Be careful with the mag, they are very hard to replace. The front sights have been known to come off, too, be sure yours is tight before you try to fire it.

There was an excellent web site about these pistols but I am unable to find it now, perhaps it is down?
