Just bought a Savage FCP-K in .308 and I am having issues with the rounds not feeding properly. They get stuck about 3/4 of the way in and I have to pull back slightly on the bolt handle and then push forward again, then it loads fine. Has anyone heard of this issue being common with this rifle?

If I was in your shoes I'd try shooting a couple types of factory ammo and if I had the same problem I would contact Savage.
The fcp-k is a good gun so I wish you luck! Im pretty interested in hearing what the issue is so keep us posted on your rifle.

I bought an FCP-K in May, I love it, it's a great rifle. I also shoot reloads. I agree with trying some factory loads before contacting Savage. I have had a few rounds that were difficult to load, and one that wouldn't chamber. But I have never had any issues with factory ammo.
I'm using 168gr SMKs, and the OAL from my Lyman's manual. Load up a dummy round without powder or primer and test different seating depths and see if it makes a difference.
Also make sure the magazine is seated correctly.
The FCP is a great shooter, my last 300yd 3 shot group had 2 holes touching and 1 (flinch) about 2" away.
Enjoy your rifle!

Maybe your sizing die isn't set exactly right. Like already mentioned I'd try some factory ammo and see what happens. If the problem is still there contact Savage then. Also maybe there is a lil burr or something on the feed ramps could polishing it a little help out. I'm just speculating I'm not familiar at all with the rifle you are asking about.

After observing carefully the breech when I am loading I have seen that the issue is that the bolt doesn't pick up the round. The round is trying to enter the barrel with the rear of the brass pushed skyward and making upward pressure on the top of the breech. I have to stop, pull back a 1/4 inch, then push forward again and it will load fine. This happens about every 3rd round. I really don't think it is my sizing die. I believe is is set up correctly. The rounds fit in the chamber just fine. I believe it either has something to do with the way the magazine is seated or the large amount of play in the action of the bolt. I have a Savage 110 and it has no side to side play when pushing the bolt forward. My FCP-K has side to side play when pushing it forward.

I've got a Savage FC and a Savage FP, both in 308. Both have been flawless and accurate through a few boxes of ammo each.

If you're having problems with factory ammo, get in touch with Savage.

I'm having the same issue. Did Savage take care of it?
