While in Ketchikan,AK back in the end of May,'09; my wife and I were "rambling" around and dropped by the Walmart (yes! even in Ketchikan,AK), and of course I went through the sporting goods to see what they had that they don't carry in the lower 48.

In the gun case, they had a curious specimen that I can't find anything on. It was a Stainless Savage M110/M116 with black synthetic stock and iron sights in .375H&H. on the bolt was laser etched "Guide Gun".

Indeed !

price was $676.00 if I remember correctly (6xx.00 something...)

I made a mental note to follow up. So far I haven't been able to find any listing, from Savage or other sources.

Does anyone know where else in the lower 48 this gun can be found. ?????

I'm thinking of building my own, on a Left hand action that a local pawn shop has. Blue instead of Stainless, however, since I can't find a "real one"....

BTW; They hadn't heard of an "ammo shortage".. Plenty of .223/5.56 (cases!), 9mm, .40, .45, and LOTs of .44mag, .375H&H mag, .458mag (yes! 4 varieties no less!) And of course plenty of Federal Premium in "common calibers" with Nosler Partitions. An "enlightened" selection for the area ! Even had "scads" of .22lr.
