I’ve been collecting components for years to reload 303 British, but have never done it. Looks like it’s gonna happen soon!Id love to get a Savage .22 conversion someday- .303 is too spendy for me these days. I guess Ill just have to muddle by with my .410 Ishapore for now, lol.
The 303 is a great cartridge, one of my favorites and the Lee Endfields are IMO the best of the bolt battle rifles.
I have never seen one cleaned with a funnel, that's interesting.
Thanks, you’ve got a good eye! I corrected the hand guard after you mentioned it.Check your top front hand guard. Looks to be pushing forward and if so will affect your front sight.
I have the same funnel. Any markings on yours?
1909 King's Military Regulations, Part 1, paragraph 101
“An effective means of cleaning the bore whether firing has taken place or not, is found in the use of boiling water. Before boiling water is used superficial fouling and grease should be removed. About five or six pints should be poured through the bore from the breech, using a funnel to prevent its entering the body or magazine. The rifle should then be throughly dried and bore oiled. Not only does the boiling water remove the fouling, but the expansion of the metal due to heat of the water loosens any rust there maybe and makes it easily removable.”
Back when I used to shoot a lot of corrosive .303 ammo, I took a thermos of hot water and the funnel to the range with me. Worked great.
When I bought it, I was told it came out of Canadian storage but darned if I can find any markings.I have the same funnel. Any markings on yours?
