I have had my Savage Mark II GL for almost a year now and I have had lots of fun times shooting it. Recently when cleaning it, I noticed something wrong with the bolt. I tried to take a picture but couldn't get it right so I found a picture from someone else that has the same problem. The only difference is mine is right in the middle and matches the "latch" that holds the bolt in the action.

It seems the bottom has "folded" or "dented". What should my next move be?

Thanks,

Alex

I think your next move should be to call Savage, and see what they have to say.

I do think it is probably nothing to worry about though.

Just pulling back the bolt with too much force, or many thousands of times. I have more than 5,000 rounds through my Savage Mk II, and the exact same issue occurred. I took a small file, and evened-it-out. It does not effect the firing of the weapon. Guess I'm saying it's cosmetic. All the same, call Savage and see what they say. It appears to be a pretty soft grade of steel.
