How are the savage mark ii FXP 22 rifles? I have a MK2 pre accutrigger and i like it. Im betting the FXP will be a nice upgrade. 264.00 OTD.

The Savage mark II is the most accurate .22 i own, I’d say go for it.

That rifle may be fine for you, but I prefer the FV-SR model because of the heavier profile 16.5" barrel with threaded muzzle and pic rail mount on receiver. Cost is very similar. The Savage FXP will come with a cheap cope. That might be fine depending on your uses. I personally would rather not buy a package deal since I will use a better scope than what comes with the rifle.

I will also suggest going with a MkII with the heavy varmint barrel versus the sporter barrel. While I have not owned or shot any inaccurate Savage rifle, I do prefer the varmint barrels. And if you do want the package deal I suggest finding the MkII FVXP instead.

I ended up getting it. The scope is a weaver with the hold over marks. 3x9x40. The same scope came on my .223. It served me fine untill i started shooting longer range. I picked up a Ruger American 17hmr too.

I bought a heavy barrel Mk II last week and scoped it with a Burris Droptine. Haven't gotten the trigger exactly where I want it yet but am still pleased with the rifle's performance. Did some ammo testing this morning, tried 5 different kinds. So far, the winner is CCI standard velocity; got several 1/2" groups at 50m.
