A friend is dumping some firearms quickly to raise money ASAP for an emergency.

One of the rifles is a Savage MkII bull barrel .22 with a inexpensive Tasco scope on it.

I've heard reasonably things about the Savage, but know nothing about this rifle or any used price/value on it.

He asked me to make him an offer. While I love a deal, I also don't want to try to steal it from a friend who is trying to keep his world together.

It's a nice gun, but I have heard from friends that some are cranky feeders. I am sure you will be checking that and accuracy before buying (that's the best part about private sales), so you should be OK.

Sometimes I have to ask myself if I'm really going to use a gun before buying. The Savage probably isn't going to make you any money, so if you pick it up be sure to put it to good use. That's what it's best at.

Ask your friend what he thinks is fair. If you are interested after that check the markets and try it out. With friends, I'll usually try not to chisel the last $10 out of the deal--if I pay a little more, it's for a good cause and I know what I'm getting.

I've been looking at those lately, if its the MKII FV.

rifle new, $200-220.

"inexpensive Tasco scope" and rings, $30-50.
