Hello everyone I am looking at getting a savage model 11 trophy hunter in 260 Rem as a backup deer rifle/gun little informal target rifle for the range so does anyone have one what do you think of it if you do?

There's 3? Savages in my safe. Not even sure how many they all shoot acceptably well for my uses. Generally around an inch without much fussing with the loads. I'd buy aother

They have an internet reputation for accuracy. I've owned a few, shot a few more, and know a lot of other people who have them. I've never seen one that shot poorly. But I've never seen exceptional accuracy either. Certainly more accurate than most shooters though.

I like the short actions well enough. Savage actions are much longer than other manufacturers. Their long action rifles are just insanely long and I don't care for those at all.

Actions not Tikka smooth, but I`ve been very pleased with my 3 Savages. Have not experienced any of the extraction/ejection issues that one can find reported ( seems to be easily remedied with a larger ball bearing in the extractor ). All 3 of mine shoot better than I do, especially my Model 12 LRPV.

That has been my experiences with all the Savage rifles I own. Though I haven't bought one since before the start of the plandemic. I'm down to just one centerfire and two rimfire models right now. My Model 12 FVL 308 is a little older and has the blind stagger feed magazine and shorter action screw spacing. I can cover a 100 yard 5 shot group with a quarter when I do my part and am having a good day.

I have owned a handful of Savages. They all shot very well!
I like the 260 rem, but wonder why it over the 6.5 creedmoor?

Excellent question mainly because I have 2 other rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and as a confirmed 6.5 Junkie I saw an easy way to get into a 260 Remington for not a ton of money

Also Does anyone know the twist rate on this savage rifle Sammi is 1~9 but I’m hoping for 1~8

I've got a model 11 in .223, and it is a fine rifle. One of the few woodys I own, and it is a great shooter. I imagine it in any other caliber would be pretty good, too. If the price is right, grab it

Savage doesn't seem to list the 260 Remington anymore but I found a review of the mdl 11 in 260 and it says it is 1 in 8 twist.
Hope that helps
