I can't finy anything on the web about this rifle. I found a Model 14 American "Compact" Classic. Has a shorter LOP then the standard Classic stock and the barrel is 22". It also had open sights. It is a "clearance" item at a local shop. It has the Accutrigger.

When did Savage make these? I don't see it in the lastest catalog. Other then the shorter stock I'm assuming these are no different then a normal 14 Classic and that if the price is right I should buy it.

Any thoughts or owners out there? I can't find anything on the net about them - a mystery. I think the Savage part number is 18073.

I believe only you can answer that question.......Do you need it, is it a caliber that you like? Will you use it? Does it fit you?

OK, what the heck, since you asked: Sure, you shoud buy it, regardless of the price, it is a Savage and everyone knows how accurate they are and that model is one of the better looking ones....Even if you don't like it, you shoud buy it....You know deep in your heart, that you don't have to ask us.....Just fork over the cash and own another piece of history....I wish I could find a deal like this once in a while.

Oh - its the right caliber and it seems to fit pretty good. Thumb is a bit close to the nose due to the short stock but I could always put a longer recoil pad on it. I'm sure I'll end up buying it since that is what we do...

Did Savage only make a few of these or what?
