I have had the urge for a nice tactical bolt gun for a good while. I really like Od Dog (Al's) rifle, but my budget is a bit thin right now. I have a real nice.. older Savage 110 in 30/06. It came with a nice laminated Boyds stock. I recenly became aware this rifle had some issues that needed fixing.
The bug hit me !
I wanted a black rifle that was real scary lookin
A scary rifle needs an acronym far a name so i came up with T.H.U.D.
Tactical ..Home ..Urban ..Defense
Bet you shakin in your boots already!.
I wanted a nice stock, and i really like the Hoage overmolded stocks. They happen to be in the $200 range so I would just have to improvise.
I picked up a nice Burris FullField II E1 Cabelas had them on sale for $119. hard to pass up.
Then I had this great idea for the stock
These Boyds stocks always seemed to be a bit fat to me. Especially in the wrist area. So I went to whittilin on it and thinned it out and contoured it a bit. Then I defined the pistol grip and raised the area between the trigger gaurd and grip.
