my buddy just bought a new 111gcns in 300 win mag. a nice rifle but the entire barrel & action rock back & forth in the stock. i understand free floating but this just doesn't seem right. i'm thinking we should check the torque on the action screws but this rifle is new. is this normal or should we be looking for a way to cinch things up? any advice would be appreciated as he wants to sight in the scope saturday.

Yes either check out the problem or if you don't feel comfortable doing the troubleshooting take the rifle back.

Not a good idea to fire any rifle loose in the stock - let alone a 300 Mag !:banghead:

thanks, guys. kinda what i was thinking. a little blue loctite probably wouldn't hurt either.

I wouldn't use loctite -- I'd just torque the screws down moderately tight, alternating between screws. If there's still a little movement, I'd glass bed the action.
