Savage Rifles and their AccuTrigger

TXhillbilly, I've heard the "too light" excuse and mine would lock periodically even if you turned it up to its heaviest setting. "HOW" you pull the trigger is just completely off base. The trigger locks then the bolt is cycled, not when you pull the trigger. Its locked before you even touch it.

The fact it CAN happen is enough for me. If a Glock's trigger locked solid once every 100 rounds or so would you carry it? I bet not. I have the same philosophy with my rifles. Only accurate rifles are interesting and only reliable ones are worth owning. Maybe I could have fixed the issue but its just not for me. If you don't mind it then its a darned good trigger but its not like a regular trigger can be tuned to a nice break also.
I did say "Most Guy's",there have been several people that have had some problems with them, but most were the "Target" version of the Accu-trigger.

The only time that I have had one lock up was from either having the trigger weight set too lite,or if I pulled the trigger towards one side and not straight back.

Anything that is made or touched by human hands has flaws,no matter who made it.

I have fired 1000 rounds or so through my $400 Savage with the Accutrigger. It has never "locked up", FTF's, FTE'd or any other type of failure. It might happen the next time I shoot the rifle but it has been flawless for me and I am not easy on hunting rifles. My hunting guns are not "show" guns. They are used and semi-abused. The acutrigger took some getting used to just like anything that is different but it took about 1/2 a box of shells to learn how it works. I have not had to make any adjustments as it is just right out of the box.

Txhillbilly, mine would lock up when the bolt cycled which I believe is the most common issue. If I was target shooting and very light on the bolt it normally wouldn't do it but if I went too quickly or tried to shoot quickly the problem would pop up and the only way to unlock the trigger was to cycle the bolt again.

The accutrigger in the 22lr is a different design, better in my book, and it doesn't appear the trigger can lock up like the centerfires do. I love the trigger on my Savage 22lr. Either way I think the Savages are still great rifles. I would rather get a Savage I know is going to be accurate and fix the trigger then get another brand that may or may not be as accurate. Its a lot cheaper to fix a trigger.

I have 4 different Savage rifles, 3 of which have the accu-trigger.

It really is a great trigger-my suggestion is save a little longer and shop hard for what your looking for-you may be able to do well on line and pay the $25 to ship to an FFL.
