As I noted in the "223 Target/Varmint" post. I'm looking at the 10FP. I have problems with their website scripts and can't review the twist info. I read somewhere that the 10FP has a 1x9 twist. Is this true? If so this could negatively effect like varmint bullets then again I could load the heavy high BC bullets and the heavy Nosler Partitions.

Also what is the diffference in the 12FV and 10BP, barrel length? I'd imagine in 223 that a 24" barrel is plenty.

Lastly what do these babies cost?

Thanks,
tjg

.223 Rifling rate is the same for all models: 1:9.

FPLE1A: 20" barrel--$684MSRP (Choate stock)
FPLE2A: 26" barrel--$684MSRP (Choate stock)
BVSS: 26" barrel--$675MSRP
FVSS: 26" barrel--$626MSRP

I paid $325 IIRC for a $505 list rifle, so perhaps $475ish??

Wal-Mart can special order a lot of Savage products, perhaps you can ring them up and ask for a price check. Just make sure that you are going to get a newer rifle with a new trigger and not some overstock. If you DO get overstock, try working the price down some more. I hope this helps

I've paid $375 for a $626 112FVSS and $399 for a $558 10FP in the last six months. Both brand new with no special discounts.

I have shot 5 Rnds. into 5/16" at 75 yards with my .223 10FP with the 45 Gn. Win. HPs from Wal-mart. It also shoots the 75 Gn. Amax into around 1/2" at 100. At least mine seems to handle these weights really well.

I suggest you look at the 12BVSS. Paint it black and be happy. You will have a much better stock and if you can get it with the new trigger all the better.

Good luck
