I know the Tikka T3 Varmint has a 1 in 8 twist but their website also shows a 1 in 12 twist for 223. I am wanting the standard barrel Tikka Lite in 223, but I want a 1 in 8 twist for heavier bullets.

Does anyone know for sure that the standard weight T3 has a 1 in 8 twist?

Thanks

I sent an e-mail to Beretta asking the exact same thing. They said it was 1 - 10 for my model - a standard T3 Lite @ .223 cal.

With 1 - 10 twist you can probably shoot 68gr but not heavier, with 1 -8 you'd have NO trouble with 78gr. or even 84gr. Guess you need to test it at the range to prove it one way or the other. ... if the bullets go in sideways @ 125 yds. then they are under-spun.

I'm sticking to 62 gr 'cause I think the old 55gr is too light for any crosswind @ 10 mph.

I just found the answer to my question in the Tikka T3 Database, on their website. According the the 2007 spec. sheet the 223 Remington only comes in a 1 in 8 twist for "ALL" Tikka models.

I just may have to give one a try.

My new Tikka T3 lite says .223 Remington 8" on the barrel...
