Savage/Stevens 620 Riot Gun

Greetings,

I just picked a Savage/Stevens Model 620 Riot Gun in VG+ condition for $185. It is complete with US markings and Ordnance Corps "Flaming P*ss Pots". Granted, it is not a Model 12 or 97 Trench, but for price, it seemed to an good way to get a functional US martial shotgun from WWII. Did I get a good deal?

I cleaned it last night to remove some of the sticky old lube. It really is in very nice condition, and I doubt it saw action outside the US. The takedown feature is very cool.

I can't wait to put some shells through it next week.

Would love to see some photos. A piece of the past for sure. I would have done the deal sight unseen as long as the shotty functioned properly.

Resist the urge to do anything to it beyond basic cleaning. I don't keep up with prices on militaria but military marked shotguns are pretty hot right now. Take a look over at http://www.jouster.com/cgi-bin/milshotgun/shotgun.pl and see what they have to say about it. You might be surprised at prices on some ordnance-marked shotguns.

And they are pretty good shotguns in their own right also...

Good deal, good shotgun. Like Lee said, don't alter it.

Last one I saw at a gun show was over $400.
