And you were looking for a target rifle. Which would you choose (you need a scope as well) My choices are as following:
-Cz 527 Varmint .223 - $715
-Savage BVSS .223 or 22-250- $674
-Remington XR-100 .204, .223, or 22-250 - $749
-Ruger M77 Mkii .223 or .22-250 - $689

Definitely Savage or Remington, and then .223 I'd say. Personally, I would say the Savage but come on, It weighs 10 pounds. Wow, that's a lot of rifle.

Of your choices, the Remington and Savage will probably be your best bet. My Ruger M77 varmint in .220 Swift is consistently 3/4 minute, but the Rugers can be hit and miss. I've never had a Remington that wouldn't shoot MOA or better.

Have you looked at the Howa Varmint models?? They've gotten some great reviews, and are fairly affordable... leaving plenty of $$ left for decent glass...

Yea, I've seen some. But I think I am pretty much set on either a savage bvss or remington xr 100. I may go remington because I hear the savage gets inconsistent groupings.

You can't lose with any of the four.

The Rem XR is a target rifle, so you don't need to add stuff to make it a target rifle. That way you spend the rest of your available funds on optics.

You realize that the XR is single shot, don't you? The other three on your list have magazines.

If you reload, either cartridge has a wealth of reload data. If you buy commercial, get the 223. You have more choices of match ammo available.

I mainly by commercial but I could definitely see myself getting into relaoding (mainly for my 7mm-08) in the future. Yes, I do realize that the XR is a single shot. I kind of like that due to the fact I am looking for a benchrest/target/varmint rifle. How will the XR (in .223) hold up against coyotes?

Once you start reloading, your long range shooting takes on a whole new meaning. Consider it seriously. You can get a good single stage setup for under $100 from MidwayUSA. But get some books (Lyman's book, or the ABC's of Reloadint) and read up on it first. Never buy equipment before you educate yourself.

I don't shoot coyotes. I like them. They are an important part of the natural system where I live out west. So I don't really have any advice for you on your choice of cartridge for them.

My suggestion would be to save up another $1,000 and get a Remington 40 XB in .22-250. Excellent cartridge and rifle! I just got one in .220 Swift. Now to get it to the range for case forming and load development!

If the Savage comes with an Accutrigger, don't change it. It's one of the best factory adjustable triggers.

I've installed Jewell and Jard on other rifles (although not on a CZ) and a Rifle Basix sear on a Ruger 77. The Jewell is the most sophisticated of the three and it's an excellent trigger, but the most expensive. Jewell makes several different kinds of triggers, mine is a basic single set hunting trigger. The Jard is good and very adjustable, but I had to keep patiently adjusting and adjusting to get it right. Once it was set, it has performed well. The Rifle Basix is not a complete trigger, but it was the least expensive way to get excellent results on a very good trigger. For hunting it's a good choice.

You might want to start a new thread on aftermarket triggers. The title may attract lots of other worthwhile opinions and experiences.
