We live in GA and my wife is going to visit our daughter in SC which does not reciprocate with GA (she has a GA CCW). Does anyone know what the law is in SC for having a loaded gun in your car if you are just passing thru and do not have a ccw that they honor.

Please refrain from referring me to this http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/southcarolina.pdf as I have already read it and it is not specific about whether the gun can be loaded or not in your car.

sister state, she'll be safe. I will look it up for you in a min, I'm eating lunch at the moment.

Uh....sister state? I don't think that holds water. SC and GA don't reciprocate. Georgia reciprocates with most surrounding states, but not SC. So, it really boils down to what the law is for someone without a permit in SC. Check out the website in the link I provided in my OP.

With no CWP, you can have it loaded/chambered in the glove box or center console, but not other places within reach. It does not matter if the glove box or console is locked or not.
