SC THR shoot

Also, I just found this on the website:

17) GUESTS: Members may bring a maximum of 10 guests on weekdays & 4 guests on weekends to use the range. More may be brought only with the specific permission of the Executive Committee. Members are responsible for, & must DIRECTLY supervise, the use of the range by their guests.
So, specific permission would be allowable if it can be gotten in time. Seems kind of doubtful this late, though.

I assume rifle siloutte shoots use the rifle bay...I've never done it. And Pistol silouette would use which bay, the GP I'd guess? That would leave the IDPA/IPSC area, the 2700 bay, and the plinking bay, I'm thinking.

Looks like I may have to spend some time loading tonight/tomorrow. But I'll bring at least one SKS anyway.

Actually there is a dedicated silhouette range that has metal rails at set distances on which you can place the targets. The pistol thing starts at 9:00 and the rifle comp. is at 12:00 so they're probably both on that range. So I guess it shouldn't be any problem for us to use any of the other ranges, but I don't really know the rules on what's allowable during a competition.

Rick

It's perfectly legit to use any ranges that aren't being used for matches.

What's the total so far? I've got myself and my brother for sure, but there may be as many as six others coming with me. That number will probably end up being 2, but there's always the chance of more.

How many guns are each of you guys bringing? I'll bring all of mine (about 10). Oh, I'll bring a dig camera as well...anybody else have one?

I'm planning on bringing my wife's SKS (yes, you read that right), her birthday present Kimber Ultra Carry, my Kimber, my carry Sig, one or both of my Mausers, and either another rifle or my shotgun.

I'm sure right now of just me and my wife. I'm trying to talk one of the XO's in my battalion to come and bring some of his toys.

We're still at MCRC, right?

Well, I asked my wife if she wanted to come but I don't think she's going to so it will probably just be me and my brother.

Between us we'll have an HK USC, a MAK-90, a Remington VLS, a CZ 452, a Walther P99, a Springfield Compact .45, a Ruger 22/45, a S&W 686, a CZ 75, a Walther P22, and maybe a couple of others. I'm really looking forward to it.

Rick

I don't think we'll be able to do MCRC at this point. Look at the list:

Me, Arkady (my brother)
Langenator and Mrs.
Yowza +1
Intrepid 9mm

That's seven right there. Lang is trying to get one more, and anywhere between 2 and 5 more might show up with me. I'm going to try to get an exact number today, and I'll post as soon as I know.

Not to pick nits, but I'm pretty sure my wife doesn't technically count as a guest. Now, if she was my girlfriend, she would. If I'm reading the rules correctly.

And the XO bailed. Too bad. He has a semi-auto RPK and a new SAR-2 that would have been fun.

Oh well. I've got an SAR1 you can shoot though :)

Two of my possibles just bailed. Here's my situation: Arkady and WingZero count as one of my guests, because WingZero won't get there until right after Arkady has to leave for work. One of my friends will be there with me, making 2. I still haven't heard from my buddy in Charleston that wanted to go, and another friend won't know until later tonight if he's gonna go. My dad wants to come but he said he'd sit this one out if it meant we could get everyone else in to MCRC.

I guess I'm the holdup on this one, sorry guys :( I'll let you know as soon as I do.

I'm good for your dad and at least one more, but I can only stay 2-3 hours. I go to the field at Oh-Dark-30 Monday, and have to go shopping.

C'mon Lang, don't be such a pansy! Even if you stayed until 2, you'd still have at least 3 hours for shopping. You're just trying to cover an early escape so you can run away from the embarassment of your shooting skillz, aren't you :neener:

If you take Intrepid, Yowza and his brother, I'll take Arkady/WingZero, my friend, and one more. I think my dad's gonna sit this one out.

Well, it sounds like things are getting worked out. The only other question I have is, do they leave the gate open during a competition? If they do, then I guess we won't have any problems getting in. If not, are we going to try to meet up somewhere before we get there?

One other question. Is anybody going to be able to bring a target stand? I don't have one, unfortunately.

Rick

Normally the gates are open during matches. I'll PM my cell number to those that have responded. I say we meet in the parking lot at 10:00am. Make it the far left of the parking lot. This'll help those that haven't been there before. When you drive through the gates, the lot is on the right (hard to miss it). Far left corner shouldn't have too many people there since the silhouette range is down to the right. I'll be driving a silver 2 dr '99 civic. I'll try to remember my Molon Labe hat as well.

Directions to the club can be found here.

Intrepid 9mm - take I20E, then hop on 26E (toward Charleston). Take the HWY 321 exit (last one before I77). Use the directions above for the last part of the journey.

I have 3 target stands and some other things to shoot as well. I hate beets. You'll understand tomorrow.

Actually, after 2-3 hours my supply of diapers and/or formula is likely to be exhausted the way my kid eats and does, um, other things. Not sure how he'll handle mid-day heat, either. But I'll hang as long as he can.

I'll have a black Dakota quad cab with a camper shell on the back, cute wife, baby, and a camo boonie hat.

How come no one pointed me toward this thread earlier?? :D I hope it was a good meet.

If ya'll ever get together again, let me know. Columbia is at least a couple hour drive from me, but if there is a good chance of a good turnout and some interesting hardware, I'd be game on a weekend. This summer sometime would be best for me.

The spartanburg IDPA shoot is on sat...

Lostdog: I didn't know there was IDPA in Spartanburg. How does it work there? How would I go about getting involved with it?
