So the other day I broke down and ordered some RCBS scale check weights from Amazon. I had been using just a 10gr and 20gr that were given to me and finally convinced myself I needed better.

Weights arrived tonight and both I and the wife were completely blown away as what we received is nowhere near what is shown on Amazons website. They advertise part number 98991 and a description that says 2X20, 1X10, 1X5, 2X2, 1X1 1X.5 1 FORCEPS.. The published picture shows 1X200, 2X100, 1X50, 2X20, 1X10, 1X5, 1X1, 1X.5 and forceps.

The actual package contains 2X20, 1X10,1X5, 2X2, 1X1, 1X.5 No forceps. The 1gr weight is actually smaller than the .5gr weight. So I need to check this closely. What is pictures is actually RCBS part number 98993 which is the Deluxe set at twice the price.

Now I also did not read the reviews because I have never experienced this problem before ordering from Amazon or RCBS. Which is really too bad because the reviews would have alerted me to this discrepancy. The first page of review nearly every one commented on this so after this much time one would think Amazon would correct it.

I bought a set on Ebay for $ 25.00 with free shipping. Placed my bid, accepted. I got the deal. Exactly the same set that RCBS sells for around $80.00.

Almost forgot, I did check them with my 2 scales. The Lyman D5 is good. The electronic is a tad off.

Send them back and get the troemner set from Amazon. I had to adjust my set a little by sanding some off of a couple of weights and checking them against a known scale.

Welcome to Amazon's 2022 Shopping Experience! Full of counterfeit or otherwise not correct or misleading products. It's an acute problem they have and I as a 20+ year Amazon customer my confidence with them has never been so low.

What I would do is contact RCBS and notify them with a a link to the Amazon website and show that they have the picture of the Deluxe 98993 without the box, They might make the kit complete for you

If not you can return the set, you really do not need the other weights and the cheap tweezers. Which no doubt will bring up a past thread of just how darn important those tweezers are:what:forceps for those picky folks:)

I have the Lyman which work just fine

So I am going to keep these and the disappointment. Not in the product but because of the misleading advertisement. Again very seldom do I not look at the product reveiws but here I trusted Amazon and RCBS. Now hopefully this will alert others to this discrepancy.

The other added weights would have been helpful as I cast and sort a lot of lead pistol bullets.

I think there might be clue hidden in there somewhere...

Seriously,,,, No worries! We've all been there. The more time I spend online the more I'm reminded that it's always a good idea to research the bajezuss out of things before I click 'buy.' :scrutiny:

I get a ton of disappointment when ordering from Amazon...and especially with regards to reloading or 2A related products. I'm just glad that I'm able to make most of it right. What's frustrating is when you need something in particular, and Amazon will get it to you faster, and then DON'T. They make up for it (to me) by having massive clearance sales that get me my products for 30-40% less. It's almost as if they come to hate reloading products a few times a year, and slash the price to get rid of them.

check weights ... been using just a 10gr and 20gr that were given to me and finally convinced myself I needed better.

I bought the least expensive check weights I could find on Ebay. When I received it, I checked both my RCBS 505 and my electronic scale and they both matched the weight on the check weight.

Were either Amazon or RCBS the actual seller on the listing?

Amazon.

A couple separate buyers commented to Amazon about it and then stated Amazon did nothing. They did not state whether they returned them of not.

I am familiar with RCBS and went that route expecting a quality product. Which this is. The discrepancy is all Amazon.

Those Troemner seem to be the most reasonably priced check weights I have seen! There is no reason for reloading hobby that check weights should cost $40 or more!

$19 and made in the USA , :)

Which is why I suggested to contact RCBS, I am sure they would like to know that Amazon is misrepresenting their products!
