So I bought a new gen-2 with the black slide. Looking at this as a car gun or bag gun that if lost or stolen I could deal with it. $285 out the door.
Out of the box it looks good, the fit and finish are quite good, comes with two mags, nice. Took it to my pit yesterday, large paper target at about 20 to 25 feet. Loaded federal 115gr target. It worked great in my opinion, no malfunctions at all. Trigger action is good in my opinion, smooth, recoil is not bad at all if you are used to shooting 9's. Kind of like shooting a double action revolver. Was able to keep the rounds in the general center of the target which is all I'm capable of in semi rapid fire. All functions worked like they are supposed to. Shot 50rds of the federal then switched to some mixed hp's. No problems. Sights are good three dot.
This is a little big for a pocket gun, with up to 10 rds on tap thats ok, it is a good size for a bag or iswb holster, or as a car gun.
So I am happy with this, I need to shoot it a little more but so far I already trust it. And at this price it seems like a real value.:)

Thanks for the review. This gun is intriguing to me, but I doubt I'd get one since I already have a subcompact nine (Kel-Tec PF9.) If I lost it, I'd probably look at the SCCY.

CountZer0, I use 115-grain Remington-UMC JHPs in my gun, as it's all that's readily available (or was, when I bought it) for both carry and practice. I have no qualms with it.

I just picked up a two-tone version for $247.00 OTD. I have yet to fire it, but will probably do so this week. Interestingly enough, it fits in the same holster as does my Kahr PM9, so that helps a little. :)

Most complaints seem to be with first gen guns with manual safeties that sometimes set to "safe" during normal firing.

Second gen models have a decent reputation. I probably wouldn't buy one because you never know how long they'll be in business and they basically manufacture Kel Tec's P11.

Basically the thing for me is that I know that Kel Tec will be in business in 20 years because they are constantly cranking out new designs and are one of the top selling manufacturers in the USA so I'd rather buy from them.

SCCY? Who knows. They're a pretty new company in comparison.

Well, if everybody felt that way there would be NO new products developed. Since I'm basically not a Kel Tec guy I really don't mind trying something new. And should SCCY go belly up somewhere down the road it's no biggie, as I don't have much tied up in it anyway. Plus in my case, I won't even be around 20 years from now!

Well I just mean that in this specific instance the SCCY CPX2 is basically a copy of a gun made by a more stable company. Kel Tec is a very large manufacturer that makes lots of money in the USA and sells lots of guns. The ATF says they're the 3rd largest firearm company in the USA, which means that it is highly likely that they'll be around in 20+ years barring some unforeseeable issue.

If I have the option to buy a very similar product with similar pricing between two companies and one of which has been around a lot longer and is one of the largest manufacturers in their respective field, I'm going with the most successful one because lets face it, a warranty is only as good as long as the company is still above water.

That said I still might buy a SCCY pistol at some point if I ever find a deal on one that is impossible to pass up. I've thought I wouldn't buy from various companies before and then ended up coming across a great deal and going home with one.
