Wow the teacher can not read or comprehend the bill or rights. Teachers this uneducated should not be teaching.

Oh I believe they know what they are doing. The school is covering for the teacher and refusing to answer questions. These people should be held accountable and fired like right now.

Big Tobacco was right; get um when they're young and they'll be with you for life.

Create anti's early.
Make millions of gun owners felons with UBC's

Poof! No more gun problem.

The School Board is obviously not doing their job of monitoring what is being taught in their school system. Put the hammer on the Board, then the School and finally the teacher.

They will only be sorry they got caught. Unfortunately, we've allowed these people such a foothold in our educational system, that it will be practically impossible for us to root them out, unless we just happen upon their indoctrinational materials after the fact.

It would be nice if a complete and legible version of the school paper were available to view. I can make out at the top that it says "the second amendment is surrouned in controversy". So is the paper saying there is no second amendment right to firearms for citizens or just that some believe this to be the case?

There's a picture of a deadly gun on there. Shouldn't someone be going to prison for having that picture in a school?

No, the lock in FRONT of the trigger, makes the gun safe. Right? Isn't that some kind of assault pistol anyways?

EDIT: Just so it's clear, I am being sarcastic.

There was an exacto knife attack today, we need to get those banned. That paper is full of crap. The Supreme Court has ruled unconstitutional a law in Chicago banning handguns and I'm pretty sure a law banning concealed carry in Illinois.

I agree.

This is where the next civil war is being fought- and it's happening right now in our schools.

The Left and 'dear leader' have made it quite clear that they have every intention of indoctrinating the minds of every child they can reach. What better way than to turn the next generation of our young into the intellectually-numb, unquestioning minds that serve their cause so well.

Kids getting suspended from their schools for playing with Pop-Tarts that have had bites taken out them to duplicate the silhouette of a gun, drawing pictures of a gun in an art class, using their thumbs and extended fore-fingers as 'make-believe' guns while they say "Pow! Pow!"- it is no surprise that these educational administrators and their staffs are lying to the children.

The Russians did it all the time. It's called propaganda.

Это для детей!

we also need to hammer "Instructional Fair" whomever they might be. The teacher is clueless, and the board is clueless, true, but the book company published the worksheets and text.

ETA: instructional fair is based in Grand Rapids, MI, and they publish all sorts of educational workbooks. A quick trip to amazon shows that their constitution series-at least the ones searchable on amazon, grades 5-8--were penned in the early 90s. Might be time for a few folks to suggest putting out a revised edition. A lot of water has passed under the SCOTUS bridge in the last 20 years... :scrutiny:

I have a 14 month old daughter, and it worries me that there will be a time where I have to hand her off to the state to be "educated" on a daily basis. however, my plan is to meet with her teachers before the year starts and request an yearly educational plan, essentially a copy of what they must submit to the administrators every year. but even then, I'm sure they'll go around it. My only hope is to ask my daughter what she "learned" that day.

But I bet I'll get a call about her talking about or drawing guns in school, she's already taken a liking to them.

I saw this story today myself. It demonstrates exactly what I've been saying for a while: the so-called "progressive" schools are undermining the 2nd Amendment rights for future generations, by brainwashing today's young and impressionable students.

The teachings of this school are patently false, as evidenced by the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Heller v. District of Columbia.

That whole lot of 'skool o-fish-als' need to be on trial for at the very least, sedition, and perhaps even treason.

Sleepyone,
Our government doesn't ask ask for either. They just do it. And the only thing that happens is conservatives cry foul and then they move on. There is almost ZERO accountability.

I taught in a public school for 32 years. There is a distinct possibility the teacher isn't very well versed in the topic (ignorance isn't in short supply) and chose to promote their own belief system without regard for the other side of the coin (duh). It happens every day all across the country.

FWIW, it isn't the job of a school board to micromanage units of instruction in each and every classroom. For that matter, public school administrators don't have the time to review all supplemental materials. Of course, a decent administrator will take appropriate action after the fact, if they have the balls. Unfortunately, those too seem to be in short supply.
