SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah State University is on lockdown after a reported shooting at the University Commons. Savannah-Chatham police and the SWAT team is on campus supporting Savannah State police.

The reported shooting happened sometime around noon and the campus was quickly put on lockdown.

According to campus officials, two students who knew each other, got into an altercation in the University Commons. One student pulled out a gun and shot the other one in the arm and abdomen. The wounded student was taken to the hospital and is in emergency surgery right now.

The campus is still on lockdown because police are still looking for the shooting suspect. He has an apartment on campus which police have searched and located a weapon.

The campus will stay on lookdown until they find that student and no one is being allowed on or off the campus.

The school sent out a text alert to students about the shooting and lockdown:

"SHOOTING CAMPUS SHOOTING REPORTED. CAMPUS IS ON LOCKDOWN. Keep doors closed and locked till further notice. Thanks for your cooperation."

The University Commons where the shooting allegedly happened, is a dorm-like apartment complex.

Doesn't look like a typical psycho school shooter. This is more like a fight that was resolved by a gun.

Yea, but any kind of school shooting is no good at all for our cause. In this case, especially CCW on campus.

But the situation lends itself to the argument that if we allow ccw on campus, more scuffles like this will occur because people will have guns on them

I think I can sum this up pretty easily. Some people are bad, some people are good. That just about does it.

If there were no guns there would be IEDs, there would be knives, there would be baseball bats, there would be gasoline and matches, blah, blah, blah. Where there is a will to do harm, there is a way. The end.
