Yesterday, a 17 year old senior at Millard South High School in Omaha Nebraska drove his car across the football field on the way into school, causing some damage to the field. This was caught on the surveillance cameras. At first period, he was called into the office and given a 19 day suspension. They called his father, who is an Omaha Police Detective, at the time of the suspension and then escorted the kid out of the building.

He went home and got his father's service weapon and returned to school. He walked into the Vice Principle's office and shot her four times. As he was leaving the office, the Principle came out of his office. The kid shot the Principle a few times and left the school. About a mile or so from the school, the kid pulled over and shot himself.

A senseless tragedy, this will add fuel to the Anti-Gun cause.

It is indeed a sad tragedy, but I doubt they an get too much anti-gun traction out of this. As the kid's dad was a detective and it was his service weapon that he took, that's a gun that would have been there even if citizens weren't allowed to own guns.

What keeps me up worrying is that my missus is studying to be a school teacher. guess all my Counter-Terrorist training needs to be taught to her and how to carry an ultra discreet weapon and egress from these sort of situations.

First I agree that this is awful news. Second, I have to disagree with mgmorden. Anti's will say that all guns need to be locked up in the home:barf:, that we need to do more to keep guns out of schools:barf:, etc. They'll spin it into whatever they want.

I take the opposite spin. If the Principal or VP were allowed to conceal carry at their place of business (a school in this case), maybe one or both of them would have made it out without injury.

The kid killed himself anyway, so I'm sorry to say but it would have been an acceptable loss to prevent injury or death to two innocent people.

I agree with that, what we were saying was that anti's would spin this their way.
