I posted last week about running out of adjustment on the dial of my Redfield TV scope mounted to my carry handle on my Bushmaster AR15. I returned the scope to its mechanical zero as suggested by a member here and re-mounted it with one ring at back and one in front. The eye relief isn't as great but I got it sighted in with no problem.
I am noticing that I have to keep tightening things and the scope rings aren't completely touching between top and bottom half of both forward and rear mounts. I need to lok-tite it I think- unless anyone has a better idea.
Anyway, problem solved, I think it was just mounted bad. I'd prefer to have it mounted far forward but the adjustment dials are such that if I mount it forward the dials must be in FRONT of the foremost ring (see other thread for pic) - this setup obviously just doesn't work.
For future reference anyone having the same problem just try returning the scope to mechanical zero by going all the way in one direction, counting clicks or measuring tick marks (mine doesn't 'click' but does have hash marks) to the opposite extreme and then coutning 1/2 the clicks or distance back. Then remount with rings on opposite ends even if you are sacrificing eye relief.
I chewed the black out of a 1" dot at 50 yards this weekend using "Tac-X" 62 grain ammo after remounting. All is looking good.
Thanks guys!!!!
