Hi all, i bought a smith & wesson 629 with 6.5 inch barrel about 2 months ago....took me a while to find one. Anyhow, i'm wanting to set this gun up for deer hunting and need some advice on the scope base/mounts and which scope you all have had experience with. On all of my rifles i stay with anything leupold, and have had great success with their products. I've never had any experience hunting with a handgun and wanted to challenge myself this year as the deer are plentiful where i live, and honestly sometimes it takes the challenge out of the sport when using long guns for me. So, any advice, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks everyone,

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'm not close minded to other scope options. I've seen some of the red dot scopes online but, not really sure which ones are of good quality. As previously said, all of my long guns have leupolds, and i wouldn't hesitate to put one on this hogleg, but i'm open to different platforms of optics as well. thanks again and I hope others will chime in as well.

I have a Leupold 2x on my 629 with 8 3/8" barrel. I love the 2x. I have a Ruger Redhawk with a Leupold 4x and I much prefer the 2x!
