So I thought I was good to go since the 39m I bought already had a scope mount base attached. The problem is, it appears to be 1/2" instead of the 3/8" I was expecting.

I was planning of getting an inexpensive scope to see if i even like it scoped (like a sweet .22), but before I buy some 11mm rings and hope they work- Im wondering if Im better off with a new base with a more standard width?

Are you certain you don't have the right base? I'd measure my base, but I'm at work. I bought it from Marlin for my '63 Mountie. Every scope base I've ever seen for a 39-A or Mountie/39M was one of these.

BKL Tech makes rings that fit most rimfires and airguns.

Im not suggesting its the "wrong" base..... 1/2" might have been the standard back then. But today, 3/8" seems far more common.
