I bought a 357 maximum ruger super blackhawk 10.5" barrel in great condition last week, it should be arriving at my FFL soon. I would like to put a scope on it but am having a difficult time finding info on mounts that will fit it. I looked at the no drill mount from Weigand, and emailed him about it, he said he had nothing for the caliber, said I could look at the one for 44 mag but did not recommend using it. I have my doubts that recoil would be any worse in the 357 max than a 44mag, but would it fit the stretched frame? I didnt really want to drill the frame because of the rare nature and exelent condition of the revolver, maybe I should. what do you think? any other ideas?

The Weigand No-Drill for the Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk, and equally the Weaver 301, will not fit the stretched-frame Max-hawks.

If you’re open to a different direction, the Mini mount and the JP Rifles Mount for compact red dot sights works fine on the Maxhawks, and offer a huge improvement in aiming point refinement.

Slightly OT but I have a JP mount and red dot on a Ruger 44mag and they work great.

thanks for the info I will have a look at those. kind of wanted some magnification but it sounds likenit might not be a possibility

Any decent machinist could replicate a Weigand No Drill or Weaver 301 type Mount for the maxhawks, but you might not like the price.

You are just about out of luck when it comes to fitting optics to these revolvers due to the stretched frame and the short production run. The best choice is the JP reflex sight and mount. Scopes aren't very good under low-light conditions anyway.

well I have some pondering to do. a 10.5" barrel makes a really long sight radius, I will see how it shoots before I make any drastic decisions.
