Took the Nylon 66 out today for the first time in a couple of years. Mounted and sighted in the new scope (Bushnell 3x9.) The scope was about a foot right and a foot low at 25yds. Adjustments are at the extreme end of allowed turns and it is close but still at 7:00 by about 3 inches. I had this same problem with the Weaver I took off and with the Tasco before that, so I'm pretty sure it is in the rail grooves.
I know how to mill the ring clamps to bring in the windage, but I need some advice on what to do for the elevation. Shims under the scope at the rear ring would work, but is there a better solution, given that my mill/lathe is not large enough to accept the reciever?
