I recently acquired a Simmons 44 mag 4-12 X 44 scope and want to mount it on my Savage 110, which already has a Bushnell Sportview mounted on it. I know I'll need higher mounts for the Simmons, but my question is how do I figure out which ones will give the correct spacing for the scope tube. the Bushnell has a tube length of 5 11/16" and the Simmons is 5 5/16".
Maybe it's just my ignorance, but I can't find any information on this in any of the retailer's or manufacturer's catalogs I've looked at.

The reason you can't find that information is because tube length makes no difference.

The higher rings will fit on the existing base, or bases, and you can slide the scope back and forth to get the correct eye relief.

All you need to do is be sure and get the same type of rings that fit the base type you have. Weaver, Leupold, Redfield?

The only time tube length becomes an issue is if it is a low-power scope that is so short, an extended ring, or rings might be needed to clear the turrent and get the scope where it needs to be for proper eye relief.
