Been thinking about a scope for my Henry single shot in .357 Max. I plan to primarily use my own cast bullets, 25-75 yards, targets and Whitetails. Considering a Vortex Crossfire II in 2-7 rim fire, with a 50 yard parallax? Or am I better with the 100 yard of the centerfire model?
Thanks, hc18flyer

I would skip the Crossfire models if it were mine and find a 1-4x or 1-6x with a 30mm tube. Everything looks chunky on a svelt rifle so if money is tight then economy of scales favors a 3-9x. I’d recommend Burris or a Sightron SII or a Bushnell Prime for similar cost. M

Deciding on fixed parallax yardage doesn’t always come down to caliber but your intended prey and expected distance. Woods I’d chose 50 yard, open field, I’d go adjustable or 100 yard if it had to be fixed, but again it should meet your demands.

I know this is very blunt but of all the scope models sold by the major labels, I believe the Crossfire II scopes are the worst. I’ve mounted a bunch of them and feel the glass, eye box and eye relief are subpar. The glass is especially bad in low light.

As far as parallax it wouldn’t matter much to me in your scenario.

I run reg big game rifle scopes on .22rf.
But at 25 yards 4x is max and 50 is 6x.

I am still chewing on this? I have a Leupold 4x Compact with a duplex reticle on it now. I really think 4x is enough for hunting, for .357 Max cast ranges. But for load accuracy testing, 4x seems only good to about 50 yards? I will take your word on the quality of the Crossfire scopes. Thanks, hc18flyer
