I figure this may be a decent topic to help out a bunch of fellas.

A lot of choices out there now a days and figured something like this may help.

Chime in on the scopes you've owned, what they were mounted on, how much they cost, and how they worked for you and if you'd buy one again.

Tasco 4x32 Made in Japan

Had it on a Remington 740 .30-06 for about 2 years and it held zero. I then put it on a Marlin 336 .30-30 and it worked great. I put it up here on the PIF thread and evidently lost it in our move. I recently picked up an identical one on ebay and put it back on the .30-30.

Overall, the Tasco does what you'd expect and picks up a good bit of light from a surefire mounted on top of the scope, enough for night hunting. It's pretty clear, but no where close to a similar Nikon or Leupold on clarity.

The one I'm using now was shipped to me for 27 bucks. Whenever I replace it, the .30-30 is getting a 2-7x33 Nikon shotgun scope.

A good scope for the price I paid, it'll still get used when I replace it with the Nikon, but it will be used on a 10/22

Bushnell Banner 3-9x32

Had it on the same Remington 740 for until I sold the rifle. I picked it up on clearance at walmart for around 35 bucks. For a lower end scope it did pretty good on the 740. The rifle would hold about a 3 inch group at 100 yards and this scope kept it within 3 inches. It's mounted on a Savage .22 now. Works great on it.

It's pretty clear, but still not as good as a comparable Nikon. I'd buy another one in a pinch, but the regular price doesn't make much sense when you can add a few bucks more and get a Nikon.

Simmons 8 point 3-9x40

Mounted on a Winchester Model 70 .270wsm

Came on the rifle when I bought it. Seen them go on ebay for less than 40 bucks every day.

Optics were clear on it, comparable to the bushnell.

I boresighted the rifle and fired the first shot and readjusted. 10 shots later it still wasn't even close. I ended up firing 15 shots before giving up on the scope because every time I moved it, it seemed to get worse. 2 bucks a shot got expensive. I would never purchase another Simmons.

Redfield 3-9x40

Dang good scope, It came on a Ruger M77 that I swapped for on here. I regret letting it go with the rifle when I traded it off.

As clear as any leupold I've used and picked up a lot of light from the feeder lights. On ebay they can be found for about 150.

Swarovski 4-12x50

Best scope I've ever owned, but expensive. Exceptionally clear optics and could almost be used at night with nothing more than a full moon.

I had to sell it last year when I got laid off. I picked it up at a Dallas Market Hall for 850. I sold it on ebay and got 920 for it.

If you can afford a Swarovski, I highly recoomend it.

Leupold 4x32

Good scope for the cash. I bought it at Gander Mtn in Corsicana when they first opened up.

I got it for 129. It was another one that had to go when I lost my job. It sold on ebay for 80 bucks last year.

Clear optics, can be used longer than the Tasco for a little later in the evening hunt.
