Pretty sure I'm going with the swiss products mount instead of a scope mount for my K31 but I really only find that short scopes look good on the rifle. I'm looking for a 150-200 dollar optic in the 4x range, I'd prefer a fixed power scope but variable is not the end of the world. So far I've looked at the burris timberline 4x and the sightronII 4x, Ive also seen nikon prostaffs in the st.marie mount and they look nice. Even though they aren't short they have clear, sharpe lines and the angles from the tube to the bell ends are sharp unlike the nikon buck master line that is fairly curvy and has subtle lines.

SO the question: I have looked through prostaffs and the variable power timberlines and they both have great optics for the cash but how does the sightron stack up and are there other scopes with the appearance I'm looking for? Come on gimme some feed back.

There must nothing out there other than dirt cheap compact scopes, I've asked around and got te same answer. I have found a few but they are mostly pistol scopes, I'm in the market for one for a 30-30.

all I've ever seen are cheapies. shame too. a very compact 4x fits nicely on any number of guns. marlin 336, I'm looking at you.

The Burris 4x20mm is a nice little scope. I've had a few of them and still have one on a CZ. :)

The Sightron SII is also a fine scope. I had one on a CZ 527 for a while and it had excellent clarity, but I ended up selling it as I wanted something that was even more compact... and a couple more scopes later, I ended up settling on a Leupold M8 2.5x.
