I have a model 60 that I bought back around '88 or '89. It has hardly been used at all but I've been bitten by the rimfire bug lately. I currently have a POS tasco fixed 4X 15mm on it but would like to upgrade to a larger objective without breaking the bank. There is a decent price on a Bushnell banner riflescope, 1.5-4.5X 32mm at Midway. Is this a decent low budget scope option? Should i go for a 3-9X 40mm for a few dollars more? I really never thought of shooting the rifle past 50 yards but maybe the higher power is the way to go? Any feedback on this scope or recommendations on a different one? Any recomendations on rings? The low power scope is $65 and the higher power is $72 btw. Help me make up my mind!

I would be mindful of where parallax is fixed at. Typically, rimfire scopes are fixed at closer range than centerfire scopes. For my taste, a cheap 4x is bout right for a .22. YMMV.

Center Point scopes are sold at Walmart. They are in the same price range you mentioned. I prefer adjustable objectives, they allow you to adjust for parallax error at any distance. I have two of these. One scope is on a Marlin 60, and it was suposed to be temporary, but the combination has worked so well that I have not replaced it. These scopes come with rings and flip up lens covers. They have a guarantee, but make sure to keep the receipt.

If you can spring for a better quality scope consider this Weaver, It's better quality and more compact.

Marlin 60 in a Boyd's thumbole with a Center Point 4-16 AO. Some think it overpowers the rifle, but this is not a walk around gun for me, so I have no problem with the size.

I had a 3 X 9 Burris (40 mm objective) laying around and put it on my Marlin 60. It is a bit overkill, but it produces good results shooting my "rat-clanger" at 100 yards (you have to really "lob" them in there). I'd go ahead and plop the 3 X 9 on there and see how she works for ya. Get a set of standard 1" rings that fit the rail at Wally world and your good to go.

Don't really need anything super crazy for a .22lr. I had a Marlin 795 with a Bushnell "22 rimfire" 4x32 scope and it got the job done very well.

+1 on the Bushnell rimfire 4x. I used one for a while and it worked great. Also a fairly small scope compared to something like a 3-9 which was nice too.
