I'm looking for a hunting scope for a Tikka T3. No more than x10 power, hopefully under 14 ounces. Budget is $250-300.

I'm thinking a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 would be a good choice. Any other ideas?

RantingRedneck - I have a really nice Monarch (5x20) on my Savage 12 FV; I wonder how their Buckmaster line stacks up, because I won't be able to put a Monarch on this new gun.

I've got ProStaff's on both of my bolt guns and I'm very happy with them.

The Buckmasters offer a little better light transmission from what I understand. Never personally owned one, but I've looked through a few in the stores. Side by side with the prostaff I couldn't tell a difference, but the difference would likely only be seen at dusk and dawn.

If you want to try out one of mine with a Prostaff on it let me know. We can meet up at the range one weekend.

Rantingredneck, we're going to have to do that soon. I've been really busy lately - we're expecting our first in six weeks and just getting ready for her has eaten up my weekends. I can't imagine when I'm going to get the time to shoot when she's born.

This fall will likely be my last at Buckhorn - I just can't justify two club memberships and on balance like DPRC a bit more.

Oh buddy. Your world is getting to change. In a good way though. :D.

I've got an 8 year old little girl and a boy who's 3 1/2. Little girls in particular seem to have a special place in Dad's heart.

You'll get time to shoot again someday, but enjoy those early months/years. They grow up too darn fast.

I'm looking forward to her, although I am trying to squeeze the most out of my last six weeks of (relative, I am married) freedom. I'm also placing a moratorium on all gun-related purchases for at least six months after she's born, possibly a year. That said, I am stocking up in advance (a strange logic, because I should be saving) on reloading supplies and treating myself to one last rifle. It will, though, be financed the sale of one or two of my handguns, so there won't be too much complaining from my better half.

Thanks everyone for their advice. I got a great deal ($220 shipped) for a NIB Bushnell Elite 4200. I've seen them used for more, so I snagged it.
