I have a couple one piece quick detach American defense technology ring sets at the house and I am wondering if I should use a one piece base with a one piece scope ring set or is a double base preferred for that.

One piece mount = one piece base. Bed the base to the rifle. Can’t gain space by using 2 piece bases if you’re sticking that one piece mount on top. That one piece mount would have to be perfectly sized with the crossbars perfectly spaced to use a 2 piece base set - and equally, perfectly shaped to give the right position of the scope for your eye relief.

Short version - get a one piece base. And bed it to the rail to ensure it stays stress free.

I have both. A number of one piece QD rings (actually one bottom and two tops) I swap between rifles, a few two piece QD (2 bottoms and tops). A number of one piece bases, like 20 MOA risers or just regular ones. I also have a number of regular 2 piece bases as well. If anyone poo-poos the accuracy potential of two piece bases, just point them to lots and lots of benchrest rifles that use them to shoot the smallest single hole group at the match.

Better pics close up. If it's tight, it can shoot. On the other hand, I had scope rings loosen up on a Kelby action with built in rail. They scooted forward until the front ring was hanging in the air. I was real puzzled for a couple of groups where something seemed wrong. When I noticed the front ring hanging in the air I was shocked the results downrange weren't worse. :)

Two piece bases and rings can and do work fine. But guys are ignoring the fact the OP owns a one piece optic mount. Odds are slim that this will appropriately bridge the action to saddle properly on both bases.

@mj30wilson - you can easily confirm for yourself if your mount can even be used with two piece bases: hold the optic mount against the receiver. Fully cover one set of the base screws with one end of the optic mount. If the other set of base screws on the other end aren’t fully covered, that mount is not going to work with two piece bases.

In the expected case, you’ll have to use a 1 piece base, or you’ll have to buy new rings to use a 2 piece base. Pick your poison, but those are your two options.

An example of the American Defense Technology QD 1 piece optics mounts like the OP describes owning for his rifle - as I mentioned above, the mount is a short, specific length, and only offers a short, specific alignment of the optic between the rings. It would be rare this would bridge both bases of a 2 piece, and even more rare that if it DOES fit, the scope would be positioned correctly for eye relief.
