I recently purchased an SA Loaded m1a and decided to mount a scope. I picked up the Bassett standard scope mount with a picatinny rail and am now in the process of purchasing rings for it. For the rings I have decided to go with the Burris Xtreme Tactical Picatinny Style Rail 1" Scope Rings in low height (1/4" height). The scope I am mounting has a 42mm objective lens. I want the scope to sit as low as possible, but am unsure whether the objective lens will contact the upper portion of the plastic guard. I have taken a ruler to it and I am pretty certain that the objective lens will not contact the guard. I figured that it would be helpful to get some first person experience before purchasing just to make sure my measurements and guess work is correct.

Simple version : Will a scope with a 42mm objective lens contact the upper plastic guard on an m1a with low rings (1/4" height) mounted on a Bassett standard picatinny mount?

Thank you.

I've got that Bassett with a Nikon Prostaff on the lowest rings I could find....works great. You'll love it.

mshootnit, no I bought the standard height Bassett mount, not the low one. Just looking at getting low rings for it and wanted to make sure their was not any compatibility problems.
