My brother has no less than three Bushnell Trophy's and thinks very highly of them.
And they do get used.

I have a fixed four or six power Bushnell from the 70's or 80's, that I just took off of a Springfield. There are some scratches on it but nothing is wrong with it I just don't use scopes, (32 year old eyes and a fondness for apeture sights). Any how if you pay the shipping you can have the scope.

I forgot to address the Vortex scope in my first reply. I have no personal experience with the Crossfire line, though Vortex as a company has a very good reputation. I would personally never choose a 6-24 power for deer hunting. I don't know where you live, but even out here in the West most deer hunting can be successful with a 3-9X.

Most variable power scopes under $100 are less than great. I believe the Intensity Optics I referenced earlier is an exception. It's essentially a Weaver 40/44 (previously marketed by Weaver and Federal as Intensity Optics, which was dropped in favor of marketing them as actual Weaver scopes).

Here is the Weaver equivalent (still a decent buy at the price):

Redfield 2-7 scope for $130. Made by Leupold in USA. Lifetime warrenty that doesn't require receipt. IMO the best there is out there in this price range.

I own several Nikon Pro-Staffs and so far I have EVERYTHING good to say about them.
Optical clarity, easily focused and POSITIVE and RELIABLE click adjustments on the scopes.
PLUS, the price is right, GO for it.

Nikon Prostaff is the way I'd go. Only Cabelas has a clearance right now on them and the 3-9x40 with the plex reticle is only $99. That's the way I'd go instead of the fixed 4x.

Normally, I wouldn't recommend the Prostaff as while it's a good scope, you can get a lot better for similar money. However, with them in the $100 range, I'm not sure there is anything even close. In the normal price range though a Burris FFII isn't much more and a lot better as is the Vortex Diamondback.

As for the Vortex Crossfire I've just read of a few too many failing to make me want one. Vortex does stand behind them though. I also think a minimum of 6 power is way too much for a hunting scope. That's why I think something in 3-9x40 would be much better and with Cabela's having that Prostaff for $100 I just don't think you can beat that. Without stepping up to the $175 price range.

My tasco 3-9x40 has taken plenty of hogs at 100 yds or less with my .243. 35$ does what I need it to. Good luck on the search.

Go low power for hunting. I have 1-4, 2-7, 3-9, 4-16, 6-20, 6-24, power scopes the 2-7 or 3-9 is perfect for a deer rifle. The Prostaff has great color and contrast with 90% light transmission. I also own the Vortex you mentioned. It's a good target scope for some LR play but not a deer rifle scope IMO.
