I got this rifle with the iron sights but would prefer to keep my forehead intact. Any suggestions on scopes with long eye relief and wide field of view? I find the cheek alignment is just about right for the irons, so probably "lower is better" for the height of the scope. This rifle will mostly be used for deer, with maybe a dream trip west for elk.

Iirc those were made for sears ny several manufacturers like an and husky, depending on the specific year and model. How much did you pay of you don't mind me asking? There is a highroad thread from 2011 that came up when I verified my comment on manufacturers might be a good read for you. Now in to scopes a 2-7 leup, older model, glossy would fit that rifles character well as well as providing a decent amount of mag for longer shots, and good field of view at close range. Would work in the 3-9 mag range too.

There have been numerous “optics battles” here. I trust this thread will be no different. Were I going on an elk hunt, I’d make doubly sure the scope was rugged and reliable.

My choice has always been Leupold VX-3. Others here have recently been recommending Meopta. I have no experience with them.
