I just picked up a new Savage Mark II FVSS chambered in 22lr, and I need a scope. Im not familiar with scopes, I have always used iron sights or peep sights in my center fire rifles. Rifle is going to be used for plinking and varmits. Range 50m's to 100m's max. Looking to spend no more than $100. Any suggestions?

My basic Mark 2 has a Simmons '22 mag' on it. 3-9 zoom, nice crosshair.

Not sure how well it measures up to some of the other models, but it was inexpensive and it works just great for my use.

BSA sweet .22. My savage came with a Bushnell scope already installed so I don't know exactly how high the rings are. However with the stock rings that came with it, there is about 1/16 of in of clearance between the scope and the barrel.

Mueller APV.

It's about $120 (a little more than your budget), but you get an awful lot for your money. Also has an adjustable objective and parallax won't be a problem at shorter ranges.

on a 22 i like a 2-7 and i would pick a leupold rifleman or a redfeild revolution because they are made in the usa and good quality and the price is still manageable i think in the 150 dollar range

Mueller APV or APT.

I have an APV and love it! It's not a Nikon but close. I only wish I had known the APT was coming out. I would have waited. I know how to use the mil-dots for estimating range and it would have been useful for long shots on squirrels.

Regards,

Josh

I got a bushnell scope for free with a range finder, whichever one that is works great on my .22. It said "dusk til dawn" on the box, that's about all I know about it.

This ^^^^ I have a Mueller APT on my new Savage TR, and it's a really nice scope. Burris XTR rings and EGW 0MOA one piece base make for a nice and solid package.

Planet Optics had them on sale during the holidays at a very good price, which ended on Dec 18.
