Finally i was able to shoot my middy RRA today and man i wish 223 ammo is not too expensive so i don't have to diet my AR, i only shot 50 rounds and zero at 50yds, I used wolf ammo for zeroing and then i did a 10 shots groups with remington 55gr factory ammo..Anyway here it is..What do you guys think about the 10 shot groups??is it decent enough??

Were you shooting off-hand or on a bench? Did you have a rest of some sort?

That looks like about a 2" group which would make that a 4 MOA group at 100 yards.

Probably better than I can shoot but I think the rifle should be much more accurate theoretically.

Gtsteve i used my range bag as my rest, i did not try to go 100yds becs ammo is too freaking expensive!! i figure 50yds zero is good enough for me ..And yes i'm sure the rifle is more than capable of better groupings..

ya, im sure it is plenty accurate.

that scope looks like a fixed objective lens model and the parallax alone is a couple inches at 50 yards with most f.o.l scopes.

if thats the deal, then the cheapest adjustable o.l. scope you can find would cut that group in half.

to see what i mean, set your rifle on bags, with the reticles on an object 50 yds away, and without touching the rifle, move your eye around the perimeter of full view in the scope.

you will be amazed at what you see if your not familiar with the term.

the cross hairs will move a good two inches around on the target with the rifle absolutlely motionless.

its a fine group for that scope.

edit to my previous post.

oddly, most scopes with a fixed objective lens are fixed to infinite, so the farther away the object in the scope, the less this funny condition occurs.

try it at fifty, then try it on an object 500 yards away. its really funny. i freaked out the first time i noticed it, then i researched it (a little, still not a master by any means)

Why did you scope an AR15, sorry but I just don't understand why youed want to make a pretty rifle look ugly:fire:, it, it's like putting a scope ok
An ak it just looks horrible to me  (unless it's like a DPMS mini-sass).
Take the scope off and it'll look real nice.:uhoh:

P.B calm down man:) i was just trying it with a scope, i can take it off with out losing my zero anyway and i already have the rear sights in my rifle case, just doing something different..

Vikz I too scoped the AR because I think it looks pretty that way

I got going on that parallax thing and studied the effects like FlyinBryan described and realized I wanted a scope with parallax adjustments so I dug deep in the pocket and bought a Bushnell Elite 5X-15 with such adjustment.

Using it (sorry no pix available) I was able to shoot a group that was a bit tighter than yours bench resting on elbows only.

The Rock River two stage "honed" trigger did help quite a bit though.

I haven't rested it on a bag or a bi-pod yet but I feel the accuracy would be superb under those conditions.

Looks like a fine group to me, your sight picture changed at some point during the group, was this done with a standard trigger? The scope looks fine, for precision work it's the only way to go.

did you mean "like scoping an ak" ?

its nothing like scoping an ak.

ar's are inherently far more accurate, and its very common.

most ak's would group 3-4 times that size.

i hear of 1-2 moa ak47's, but i see it way less than i hear it (like zero)

its workaday stuff for an ar15 to be in the 1 moa ballpark, so scoping one makes as much sense as scoping a bolt gun.

an ak,,,not so much.

Sorry for all the scope hatein' I know an AK can't touch an AR I just don't think it looks nice, and if my Remington 700 came with a good pair of sights like the A2 style - the whole carry handle thing I'd use irons, but good ones cost more than my $100 BSA.

Sorry again for all the hate.:)

The Rock River is easily good for less than 1 MOA. Factory guarentees it. At 50 yds all of your shots should be able to hit a .45 cal hole.

If I bought a gun for how it looked, it wouldn't be an AR anything...
Group looks O.K. really, probably could be better but stock triggers on most AR's are pretty rough.

lol, dont be sorry cuz i know you werent hatin.

and you right, the ar sights are some of the best.

in my case i sometimes use a scope cuz my old eyes aint what they used to be so it helps me alot.

then again i really like to shoot my 1944 springfield garand with the irons. i do a lot better with the irons on it than my ar, i think because the sight radius is so long on the old m1.

but dont be sorry, your opinion means every bit as much as mine does here.

happy hunting!!!!!!!!
