Evans woman reports attempted robbery

An Evans woman told police Monday afternoon that she pulled her gun on a man who tried to snatch her purse in a grocery store parking lot.

The 60-year-old said that between 1 and 1:30 p.m., she had her trunk open in the Kroger lot, 4355 Washington Road, when she felt a tug on her purse. She turned and saw a man pulling on the strap.

They struggled until she reached inside her purse, pulled out a handgun, pointed it at her assailant and told him to let go. He did, and left in a brown four-door Ford.

I am glad Granny had her gun. These punks will not hesitate to hurt an old lady or man to get money.

This is another good story that cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle should note that had the lady not had a hand gun for self protection she might of been injured.

I applaud all the grannies who carry.

I think of a couple of things.

#1 I am glad my Grandmother was armed with her 30-30 in 1957.

#2 I think of our local idiot Newspaper idiot, who is otherwise pretty level headed and unbiased for an idiot, who commented when the CCW was up for a vote in Wisconsin that, "Iif everybody could carry we would be surrounded by everybody's grandma armed with a gun and we didn't want that did we?" My response verbally was "Well yeah, we do." My letter to the editor was polite and easily read to children but it didn't get published or any other letter by any other reader on the subject and he hasn't written a line since then pertaining to guns.

Arm them Grannies, arm them all I say. Well with a few exceptions like Ma Barker, she wasn't a good role model for her kids.

Old folks grew up in a different time. They knew how to take care of themselves and are used to doing so. Also, they are NOT inclined to take crap from ANYBODY nor are they inclined to indulge in political correctness. Often, they are too old and stove up to fight-they'll just kill you!

Some women beg for respect, others settle for nothing less. I hope this teaches the scum a valuable lesson on defenseless old ladies.

Kinda reminds me of the incidents where would-be predators tried mugging Bill Jordan and Rex Applegate! That hyena should be extremely grateful that the consequences of his poor Victim Selection process weren't similar, too.

Jordan pistol-whipped one of his attackers and Col. Applegate beat all four of his senseless with his walking stick.
