Thought i'd share sme picts picked it up 4 weeks or so ago, bought it for what i think is a ridiculous low price include a box of federal 240 grn SJHPs too ($300 bucks OTD) dont really 'Need' this but what the heck :) and when i cleaned it it honestly looked like it had never been fired, Serial puts it at 2011.
Understanding that this is more of a hunting pistol and it being a .44 its spendy to shoot, I'm not in a position to relaod but perhaps in the future.
Gun shoots good, better than me, im looking at swapping the grips as they are kinda slippery. i make my own holsters, etc so im looking forward to getting that going soon.
Thought id Share some picts
Thanks
Gene

I have one just like it. I have used it on both deer and hogs. It works just fine. Mine is an exceptionally fine shooter BTW.

I'm a big Ruger revolver fan, that one is a nice acquisition. I like the look of the dark grips on the stainless, but I do understand having to change them. Congratulations on a nice deal.

Wow. What a deal. Nice score man.

When I was shopping for my first big bore revolver I actually handled one just like that (but very used) at a gun show. I settled on a regular NM Blackhawk in .45 Colt but did give that one serious consideration.

Had I seen one in that condition for that price, it would have been a no brainer.
That's a sweet looking revolver.

thanks and yeah it was a steal for sure, heck the ammo around here is around 50 bucks
this was such a no brainer even I had to pounce on it :)

Don't forget .44 Special ammo. I don't know if you can find it cheaper but it would be great for plinking.

And please post photos when you get the holster done for it. I'm sure many of us would like to see them.

I've always thought that the big square edged frame on the SBH just begs for a spine along the barrel to blend the lines. And your new gun just proves that to be the case one more time. That looks just SOOOOO "right".

When I get around a dozen immediate gun projects out of the way one idea wandering around in back of my head is an SBH Hunter like yours where I cut out and install a 4 or 5 postion "Dial-A-Height" front sight to allow rapid transitioning from one zero distance to another so I can shoot switch rapidly between 25, 50, 100 and 200 yard zeros. The big spine on the Hunter's barrel is the perfect foundation to cut away and install such a mod.

BC, that sounds way more ambitious and interesting than my plan to make a holster and maybe some cartridge loops:eek:

Great deal on a great revolver.

If there's a cartridge worth reloading, 44mag is it.
The Lee hand press is a great way to get started, my whole set up fits in a shoe box.

If you don't start reloading, then look at CAS loads for plinking.
yeah gonna try and pick up some cowboy specials if I can source them locally, honestly the price difference ain't much. suppose that's why it's a reloaders round :)
so a .44 mag will feed 44 Russians too?
thanks

and I'll show off the rig when I get it made for sure

I looked at Sportsmansguide.com and can see, that they have almost the same price, for .44 Rem Mag and .44 Special(named 44 S&W on their page)

For the cheaper Magtech loads, the price difference, for 50 rounds is less than US$ 0,50
And that is no matter if it is normal or CAS loads.

You can use .44 Russian, but as it is around 10% more in cost than .44 Rem Mag, there is really no idea, doing it.
