Our rimfire match director, Bill Parkhurst, came up with an Eggs-tra-special Match yesterday up on Wagnon Mountain at the North Alabama Shooting Association's range. The competitors had five minutes to engage 15 targets from 100 yards with 16 rounds of .22 long rifle ammunition. We used scoped bolt action or semi-auto rifles and the use of a bi-pod or front rest was allowed. Based on the shooters' preferences, they could lien on the bench or shoot from prone – no rear bag was allowed. The twist was the egg in the center of the top row. The shooter could only try for the egg if he or she had already knocked down the 14 steel silhouettes. I got the egg in a tie breaking shoot off with my good friend/arch nemisis, Randy King. My last bullet veered through the egg and clipped the edge of the little dixie cup (employed as a base for the egg)! We put up a target board between the two racks for firing sighters. It was a beautiful morning and a fun match. My wife road with me and we enjoyed lunch in Tuscumbia afterwards.

Looks like fun. Also a nice sunny day for the shoot. I would like to get something like this at our club. Good shooting.

Mark.

Nice shooting!

I also have a 452. Got it back in November so am still trying to learn how it shoots. Mind if I ask what brand ammo you use for 100 yards?

rayatphonix asked, "Mind if I ask what brand ammo you use for 100 yards?"

I happened to have 45 rounds of a 50 count box of RWS Target Rifle sitting on the ammo shelf.

"What the heck, ought to be just enough for this egg shoot of Bill's."

It was.

In my 452 Varmint I usually run CCI SV or Agulia Golden Eagle. For more precision work Wolf Match.

I had a Gander Mountain gift certificate burning a hole in my wallet a couple of years ago and the RWS Rifle Match was the first .22 LR ammo I had seen on anybody's shelf in months. Got three boxes. It was disappointing for BR work, but it got it done in this 100 yard fun match yesterday.
