They're INSIDIOUS. All they do is make yer life mizzable. I walked into da gun shop today wid my CCW an a loaded revolver an I gotta STILL wait 9 days, 8 hrs, 16 minnits, an 42, 41, 40.....seconds.

An NOW I'm shootin da thing in mah ee-magination. Wearin it OUT. An I can't CLEAN it. It's stainless, but ya GOTTA be cleanin it.

An my muscle memory has almost fergot how neat it feels in mah paws.

Damn crooks get all da breaks. No waitin fer THEM!

:banghead: :D

Here in Oregon we have a waiting period too. Ten, sometimes twenty minutes. Depends how busy the phones are. All you need is your drivers license for ID.
Sorry you have to wait 10 days.

As Homer Simpson said "what, a waiting period?, but I'm angry now!" :fire:

But really, 10-20 minuted NCIC check isn't a big deal, gives you a chance to browse other items in the store that you really aren't interested in buying.

NCIC check? Ha! Here in good ol' NV I walked in the gun shop the udder day, flashed my DL and CCW, filled out a form, paid my money and left with my new LEO/MILITARY ONLY Colt flattop M4. We don't need no stinkin' check, or no stinkin' waitin' period! :D

To buy a handgun in WA with a CHL: Pick one out, argue a bit on the price, pull CHL and large quantties of $20 bills from the wallet, fill out the 4473, grab another cup of coffee while the guy calls in the check, wait for the receipt and box your new toy back up, say goodby and out the door. Time: 20 minutes if you include the time for a cup of coffee or two :D

Now if you go to Wally World for a rifle, expect 1-2 hours while a half-dozen people figure out how to do the paperwork, fill out the store logs, go find a boxed vesion of what you want (has to be in a box, W-W will not allow a rifle or shotgun to be sold and taken out thru the store unless it's in an box) figure out what number to call for the check, and finally find somebody who is authorized to carry your long gun out of the store and hand it to you on the sidewalk outside.

In VA. They do the check even with a ccw.The only thing it does is not limit you to 1 handgun every 30 days

Waiting period in this state?? NE----BTW

DL and state permit(renewed every 3 years--$5 fee)

The time it takes to fill out the yellow form and get your change and receipt back----long guns.

Hand guns-----require a trip down to OPD headquarters----background check and $10 fee---if bought in the city limits----the drive time takes longer than the check--------handgun sales outside of Omaha city limits are the same as long guns.

That's AWFUL! How come all you guys aren't shot dead by now?
Out here in the superior state of California, we take CARE of our citizens.

Boy DO we!

But....as you say....the weather is great.

:cuss: :D

I'll tell ya, after 47 years in Nothern CA I thought I'd died and gone to heaven moving to Las Vegas! Buy guns 2 at a time? Done! Fully automatic stuff can be bought? Done! CCW? No waiting period? Done! Done! :D

Tomorrow I'm going out south of town where a bunch of guys meet once a month with all kinds of full auto weapons. I'm bringing ammo and mags for 9mm and .223 and a guy is going to let me shoot his Uzi and M-16 while I wait for my Uzi to be approved. :D

Iowa, get your permit to purchase from the sherriff, $10, once a year, wait 3 days on that. Then with any purchase, fill out the 4473 pay and walk out, they don't even have to call it in. No CCW needed. The permit to purchase is required for handguns. But also hand for rifles as is eliminates the need for them to call it in. I like it, and I don't have to register them with the police like in Omaha (I work in Omaha, live on the other side of the river)

Usually used to just waiting on the phone call -

then got my (only) DWI four... five years ago...

now i getta wait a day =(

bleh

AZ, wait about 15 minutes without CCW, wait 0 min with one.
Highland Ranger, if you go to the little town of Coolidge, AZ, you will find a shop called the BottleStop, a combination gunshop/liquor store. Up front counter has cigarettes, airline bottles and ammunition behind the counter....I am serious.
"Can I have a 40, and a 40?"

Move SOUTH, my brothers.
Amen to that. In Georgia, the longest I have to wait is for the shop to open at 10AM. Picked up my new Kimber and three LEO mags for the Sig today, and with a CCW, the whole thing's cash-and-carry.

Now I just have to get someone to explain the allure of NASCAR to me, and learn to say "ain't" convincingly :p
