Anybody from around Milwaukee heard what happened at Badger Outdoors in West Milwaukee last Friday?

I was leaving work headed south on 43rd street, and saw several West Milwauke Police squads entering their parking lot in a great deal of haste.

I was originally concerned it was a gun-rental suicide on the range, or a robbery, but I suspect if it were a big deal, we would have heard something in the local media.

Still wondering if anyone knew more...

Andrew

A guy wacked out and started shooting. He got at least one band member, IIRC, before he was shot.

Are you talking about that shooting in Columbus, OH?

None of the above.

Some lowlife came into the store to shoot on the range...with a sawed-off shotgun.

Store staff alerted police, and police must have thought it sounded interesting.

The mutt may not have been a felon before, but he's sure likely to become one now.

Sigh...

I don't know, Bill. If you've ever driven down Lincoln Avenue into West Milwaukee, you've probably been pulled over for anything from speeding to a too-dim dashboard light. The community is strapped for cash, and traffic tickets are probably the main source of revenue.

My limited experience with WM cops leads me to believe that they'd go lights a'flashing and weapons drawn if there was a food fight at a McDonalds.

Hey HEy Hey now

Dont make me tell mick what you said about his intelligence

I can just see the guy now "I sawed it down my self!! Is that a problem??"

Ignorance of the law is a poor defense.

Because of its proximity to the bad parts of town, Badger gets a lot of undesirables. Thus, they also get a lot of bad press, although the press never reports the lengths they go to help the authorities.

I was in there once when a gangstah type came in to shoot. He told the sales guy he wanted this target, that brand of ammo, all the usual stuff. Then Butch, the sales guy, said, "where's your gun?"

The gangstah reached under his jacet and pulled it from the waistband.

When the guy came out from the range, there were a whole bunch of cops waiting for him. Turns out he'd just gotten out of prison the week before, too.

Hunter Rose, this is Milwaukee. No sheriff in the last 15 years has signed Form 4's. And the chances of this guy, as he was described to me, having a Form 4 are pretty slim.

Thanks

...for the intel.

I figured it had to be something dumb like that. And I've seen plenty of other dumb stuff at Badger and Shooters, and the clerks are allways pretty professional and level headed about that kind of wierdness :scrutiny: .

My favorite was the gangbanger who walked into Shooters one day with a magazine for some kind of .380 and wanted to buy more ammo. Turns out the mag was loaded, and he thought you bought the magazine with the ammo in it. :scrutiny:

And for anybody who even remembers who I am, (he he...) here's why I haven't been too active lately... www.walkowiaks.com

And guess what... We just found out we're having two more, and they're due a week before my first set of girls turns one.
